CoilSense Privacy Policy

CoilSense Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 March 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CoilSense (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and visit our website, including any pages hosted on infinityguitarworks.com that relate to CoilSense (together, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Overview

CoilSense is a technical reference tool for guitar pickup wiring. We designed it to work with minimal data collection and no traditional user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, or other obvious contact details through the app.

We do, however, use certain technical and transactional information to make the app function correctly, particularly to:

  • Provide access to wiring reference data
  • Manage Pro entitlements (in‑app purchase)
  • Maintain app reliability and security

This policy describes that data in detail.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

In the current version of CoilSense, the app does not ask you to create an account, log in with an email address, or submit personal details directly. On the website, you may optionally provide information if you:

  • Contact us via email or a contact form
  • Sign up for any mailing list (if offered)

In those cases, we will receive the information you choose to send (for example, your name, email address, and the content of your message). This information is used only to respond to your request or manage your subscription, where applicable.

2.2 Automatically Collected Data in the App

When you use the CoilSense mobile app, we may collect the following types of information:

a) Anonymous Identifiers (Firebase Authentication)

  • The app uses Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous user identifier (uid).
  • You do not log in or provide credentials; this identifier is created automatically by Firebase.
  • We use this identifier only to associate your Pro purchase (if any) and related app state with your device/user.

b) Purchase and Entitlement Information (StoreKit + Firestore)
When you make a Pro purchase inside the app:

  • Apple’s StoreKit framework handles your payment transaction.
  • Apple may provide the app with transaction-related information, such as:
    • Product identifier (e.g. pro_lifetime)
    • Transaction identifiers
    • Purchase dates and related metadata
  • We may store a subset of this information in Cloud Firestore (part of Firebase), associated with your anonymous Firebase user ID.
  • This is used only to:
    • Confirm that you have Pro access
    • Restore Pro access if you reinstall the app or switch devices
    • Maintain accurate entitlement records

c) Technical and Log Information

Firebase and related services may automatically collect certain technical information, which can include:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version
  • Basic error or diagnostic information (if enabled in the future)

At present, we do not actively send custom analytics events from within the app (for example, via Analytics.logEvent). However, some basic, non-identifying service-level usage data may be processed by Firebase as part of normal operation.

3. Information Collected on the Website

When you visit our website (including pages related to CoilSense):

  • Our web hosting provider may log standard server information, such as your IP address, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps.
  • If you contact us via a contact form or email, we will receive the information you submit.
  • If we use analytics tools on the site (for example, privacy‑friendly analytics), they may collect aggregated and de‑identified usage data to help us understand how the site is used.

If we use cookies or similar technologies on the website, they will primarily serve to:

  • Provide basic site functionality
  • Improve performance and security

We do not use website cookies for cross‑site advertising or tracking you across unrelated services.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above for the following purposes:

  • App Functionality:

    • To provide access to pickup wiring reference data.
    • To enable and maintain your Pro entitlements in the app.
  • Purchase and Entitlement Management:

    • To validate and restore in‑app purchases (Pro access) using StoreKit and Firestore.
    • To keep a reliable record of your entitlement status across sessions and devices.
  • Security and Integrity:

    • To prevent fraud and abuse related to in‑app purchases.
    • To ensure that transactions are valid and verified.
  • Support and Communication:

    • To respond to emails or contact form submissions.
    • To handle privacy-related requests (for example, about your data).
  • Improvement and Diagnostics (current and future):

    • To understand app behaviour, diagnose issues, and improve reliability.
    • If we enable analytics or error reporting in the future, it will be configured with a focus on minimal, non-identifying data.

We do not use your data for:

  • Third‑party advertising
  • Building behavioural profiles for marketing
  • Selling your information to data brokers

5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your information under the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a Contract:

    • To provide the app and Pro features you have purchased.
  • Legitimate Interests:

    • To maintain app security and integrity.
    • To prevent fraudulent use of in‑app purchases.
    • To improve the app in ways that do not override your rights and freedoms.
  • Consent:

    • Where required, for any optional communications (for example, an email newsletter), which you can withdraw at any time.

6. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to:

  • Provide and maintain the functionality of the app
  • Manage and restore Pro entitlements
  • Comply with our legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements

In particular:

  • Anonymous user IDs and entitlement records may be stored for as long as the app and Pro product remain available, or until they are no longer necessary to support purchase verification and restoration.
  • Support communications (for example, emails) are kept for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and for reasonable record‑keeping.

Where possible, we will remove or anonymise information when it is no longer required.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers and Infrastructure

    • With trusted third parties that provide infrastructure and services, such as:
      • Firebase (Google LLC or its affiliates) for authentication and database storage
      • Apple (App Store / StoreKit) for in‑app purchase processing
    • These providers process data on our behalf in line with their own privacy and security commitments.
  • Legal Requirements and Protection

    • Where required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
    • To protect our rights, property, safety, or that of our users or others.
    • To detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • Business Transfers

    • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections and continued compliance with this Privacy Policy (or equivalent notice to you if terms change).

We do not share data with third‑party advertisers for targeted advertising or cross‑app tracking.

8. International Data Transfers

Our use of Firebase and other cloud services may involve transferring and processing information on servers located outside your country, including in the United States and other regions where Google and Apple operate data centres.

Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as:

  • Standard contractual clauses (where applicable)
  • Data processing agreements with our service providers
  • Technical measures designed to protect your data in transit and at rest

By using the Services, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred and processed in these locations.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures include:

  • Using reputable infrastructure providers (Firebase, Apple) with robust security practices
  • Limiting stored data to what is strictly necessary (e.g. anonymous IDs and minimal entitlement metadata)
  • Relying on StoreKit’s cryptographic verification of transactions

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your information, which can include:

  • Access: The right to know what information we hold about you.
  • Correction: The right to request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: The right to request deletion of information, subject to legal and technical constraints.
  • Restriction or Objection: The right to object to or restrict certain types of processing.
  • Portability: The right to receive a copy of certain information in a portable format.

Because CoilSense is designed around anonymous identifiers rather than traditional user accounts, some rights (such as data portability) may be limited in practice, as we do not store data that directly identifies you by name or email.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in the Contact Us section below. We may need to ask for additional information to verify your request and to ensure we are acting on the correct anonymous record where possible.

You can also:

  • Uninstall the app from your device if you no longer want data to be collected in the future.
  • Refrain from making Pro purchases if you do not want entitlement records stored.

11. Children’s Privacy

CoilSense is not specifically directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by applicable law (for example, 13 or 16, depending on jurisdiction).

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided information to us contrary to this policy, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, remove the information.

12. Third‑Party Links

Our Services may contain links to external websites or resources that are not operated by us (for example, manufacturer websites, documentation, or other resources).

We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these third‑party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes in our Services
  • Changes in applicable laws or regulations
  • Improvements in how we describe our data practices

When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and
  • Where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, within the app or on the website).

Your continued use of the Services after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
